Now that the fall season is back in full swing- my outdoorsy family and I have been spending evenings having family time indoors. We love to lazily gather around the dining table, sip tea and chat about our days. It’s a great time of year.
However, with only a week away from Halloween- I haven’t decorated or hung a single thing. As we pulled out a few of the Halloween decorations we’ve collected, it was evident that most of our accessories have finally slipped past the “worn in look” and have fallen into the “time to toss” phase.
My daughter Tori noticed too, frowned, shrugged, and said “Mama… don’t worry. We can make decorations together! Let’s create something fun!” So my daughter and I pulled out her iPad and went straight to Pinterest.
We stumbled upon these easy to create bats and got to work. Tori suggested we put them on the wallpaper we recently hung in our dining room. The new wall is outfitted in a Candice Olson wallpaper that is gray and sparkly and simply perfect. Our stack of leftover wallpaper samples were stowed away in the front closet. We thumbed through them and found the perfect one, and Voila! We ordered the paper the next day, and when I picked it up I could hardly wait to get home to start making these!
Within minutes we created many wallpaper bats, and had started sticking them to the wall. Having so much fun, we just kept cutting and taping as we sat and chatted about our days, and the upcoming holiday.
It was the perfect craft to be handmade with the perfect little girl. I hope you find some time this holiday season to slow down and enjoy the pretty little things.
